Former New York Philharmonic Music Director Alan Gilbert called him “a complete artist: a wonderful pianist, a probing intellect, passionately committed.” Hear Inon Barnatan in Rachmaninoff’s popular Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, a set of brilliant kaleidoscopic variations which form a mini piano concerto.

The concert opens with Both by American composer Shelley Washington, who “loves making lots and lots of noise.” She “likes to write music with a big palette that draws elements from jazz, rock, American folk and other musical spaces, new and old. [Her] music focuses on exploring emotions and intentions by finding their root cause. I want a listener to somehow move, for their emotions or imaginations to be altered, or even just be moved to tap their toes.” Discover this exciting new composer in a world premiere.

Brahms’s fourth symphony is the composer’s haunting and darkly beautiful farewell to the form, and is considered by many to be his finest work in the genre. This profound emotional journey will sweep you away!
